Robotic Surgery
Gynecologic surgery can be accomplished by the use of robotic assisted laparoscopy.  In this type of surgery, the surgeon is sitting at a console that controls laparoscopy instruments via robotic arms.  This is one of the fastest growing fields in gynecologic surgery.

Robotic laparoscopy can be used to treat fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian tumors, pelvic prolapse and bleeding disorders.  The robotic system can help a surgeon perform hysterectomies (removal of the uterus), myomectomies (removal of fibroids) and endometriosis.

Some of the advantages of robotic surgery include precision, small incisions, decreased blood loss, quicker healing time and less post- operative pain.  Although the advantages of robotic surgery over traditional laparoscopy are still being evaluated, it is clear that robotic surgery is preferable to traditional open surgery.

Surgeons in our practice are highly skilled at performing robotic surgery and traditional laparoscopy.  Your provider will be happy to discuss your surgical options so you can choose which is best for you.
